The FACT Method

This patent-pending approach to team development relies upon extensive use of metrics which highlight the contributing factors to high-performance teamwork. These metrics, when coupled with our proven Team Accelerator-based workshops, provide both a current state assessment and the tools required to move the team forward to a high-performance future state. Below is an outline of the standard FACT method.

Forensics (2-4 weeks)

This stage provides a comprehensive assessment of what is currently happening within the team. Findings are gathered through a combination of individual interviews, assessment instruments like Belbin team role mapping, direct observation and videotaping of team meetings, and metrics generation from the videotaped interactions. The mix of qualitative and quantitative findings is examined to identify recurring patterns for the team to discuss and/or enact changes upon.

Awareness (2 weeks)

This stage combines a Team Accelerator workshop for building a common language and an Action Planning workshop for the examination of forensics findings and implementation planning. At the end of this phase, the team will have agreed upon what changes need to be enacted and how those changes will be monitored.

Creative Transformation (12-20 weeks)

The final stage of the process is devoted to the implementation of changes the team has determined to be necessary to achieve a high-performance mode. Our research has shown that the follow-on support we offer during this phase is critical to success; it raises the adoption rate of behavioral changes from below 30% to over 75%. The same metrics from the Forensics assessment can be periodically monitored during this period to ensure that the changes are truly occurring and impacting the team performance in their real world environment.
